Nå vandrer fra hver en verdenskrok
Jorunn Torsheim, Oddvar Torsheim
Nå vandrer fra hver en verdenskrok
Sung by Oddvar (88) and Jorunn Torsheim (52), father and daughter.
This old psalm is about people walking toward the same place from every corner of the world. Here, two voices from two generations walk it together. His carries a lifetime of having sung these words, worn smooth like a stone in a stream. Hers carries the same words, learned at his side and now sung as her own.
Neither of them is performing the psalm. They are passing it on, in a living room, a church pew, or a car on the way somewhere, in the way songs have always traveled between generations.
Thirty-six years lie between the voices, and the melody holds them both. You can hear what is handed down, what is received, and the quiet understanding that one day she will carry it alone.
